Weldon Cup 2009

The 2009 Weldon Cup was held on Saturday 16th May during Club afternoon.  This annual event which has been a feature of the club throughout its history, is for a maximum of 14 mixed pairs and runs throughout the afternoon.  In 2009, we were delighted to find that the entry list was full.  Blessed with decent, yet windy, weather either side of Fridays and Sundays deluges - the standard of tennis on all courts was extremely high.  The final saw David Gould and Nicki Seys take on Paul Carter with Tracey Manasseh.  In a close final, Tracey and Paul came through and will have their names engraved on the trophies.  Congratulations to all entrants and a massive thank you to Laura Anderson who planned and administered the event, to Derek Wakeling who provided tea and cakes and to David Gould who sourced and prepared the food (and cleared up afterwards) alongside soux chefs Lukas Ittershagen-Strauss, David Collings, Mark Richards and Steve Knight.
